Hey, try to keep these on topic. Chatter in the chatter box, info and tips in the info and tips section. So when people look through tips they do not have to browse through tons of chit chat just to get the tip.

ok....sorry once again *bows apologetically*...now back to the topic!!! ^^ anyone else got any tips for combating writers block? Cause besides my zip-lock trick, music, writing with the weather, about the only other thing i do is watch anime for ideas, or go to www.fanfiction.net to read some fics there and get ideas...(not plagerizing just reading over situations and seeing how you can incorporate them or come up with something completely different based on that idea

Yeah, movies and books help. You don't have to steal ideas, but they are good inspiration.

What I like to do is have a character all ready to go, personality, powers, everything. All he needs is a story. Keep that person in mind, then do what you guys are sayin', watch a movie or read a book, and put your character in the place of the hero, just to see how they'd react. Would they be sneaky and steal the document during the night, or would they barge in, slaughtering the enemy soldiers and cut your way out? That sorta thing. Then come up with your own situation, similar or not.

Lol, yeah. I actually read an interesting scenario in a book recently, I think I might try and write up a quick piece on it with Rician. But here's basically what you have to do for it... well, it's how I do it at least.
1) Find the character
2) Find the situation
3) Think of what your character would do in that situation
4) Think of how your character would get into that situation
5) Make adjustments for step four.
Then, basically it's tweaking and peaking from there on out. Now, I suppose I'll post that story up somewhere else, but I'll let you know here when it's up.

Lol, I was talking about somewhere else on this site, once I've finished writing it, I just need to make a different thread, you know? Besides, I really want to get it critiqued.

Take a note book with you when you go anywhere. Watch people at the mall, see how they react. Think about why they are there. You may get ideas. Also research helps a lot.

I do that sometimes, it must look funny to see someone just standing there quietly, then they whip out a notebook and begin to write feverishly...ive gotten those looks before...but it really does help, just like basing your stories on your life experiences

Lol, the last time I did something like that, I went through sixteen napkins and had so many wierd looks. Then some asshole hit my table and knocked them all off... it went downhill from there... I tell you what though, I saw that guy in the parking lot at wal-mart a few days after and he tried to start something, you'd be suprised where a tree branch would go... and I got a good story out of it too!
Anywahoos, ummm...... oh, giving commentary to your outings. Don't just say things like, "I am walking to wal-mart... oh yeah!" Say things like, "I dodged swiftly out of the way of some grayish creature as it squeeked by, being pushed by what had to be a conjurer in bright pink robes. My traveling companion tried to convince me that they were just sunday church clothes, but I knew better!"
It may sound stupid, but it really gets your imagination going.
