Stuck? Writers Block? try this...

If your stuck and cant think of what to write on a story or you have soo many you dont know where to start, try this: Write down all of your ideas, story names, anything you need to decide on or work on, and cut that paper into little slips that have the words on them, then put those in a zip lock baggie or whatever and give it a shake!! Then pull out a slip of paper and thats the one you work on!! This works for me cause i put my story titles in a baggie and i will work on whatever comes out even if it is just a sentence or word or whatever. All you have to do is reread what youve written so far and continue where you left off. that simple!! lol if anyone has any other tips i would be glad to hear them!! ^^

I like that. I usualy give people brief summaries and ask which one they think i should work on, but i always get different answers. Setting yourself to obeying the strips is good writing practice as writers need to be able to focus their minds and work on whatever their publisher/agent wants them to work on.

OBEY THE ALMIGHTY STRIPS! lol yeah, it's a little hard in the beginning especially if you dont want to work on the story you pulled out or didnt like the idea you pulled out but once you read through what you have and give your self time to sit back and think about it you usually continue and get farther than you were in the first place.

Something that is harder with looong stories, which is why good notes are important. I actualy try to put music, pictures and even any research i do that inspires me into piles together so when i work on something i can have all my inspiration for that story. It works pretty well for long ones.

thats a good idea, i like that now i have an excuse for pics...lol i never thought about using music, maybe it will help me focus on something if i use music that reminds me of my story...thanks!! ^^

Yeah pictures and music are a lot of help. Pictures for quick sparks of inspiration, and music because you can listen to it while you type. Blank pages aren't as scary when you're not sitting in absolute silence.

Just make sure the tone of the song i the tone you want to set in your writing. Otherwise, a romantic scene could turn into something much more violent, or a battle scene might turn out to be to dull for your liking, know what I mean? That's the only thing I can think to add to that, lol, I feel useless.

No, that is a good point. If i listen to viloent, hardcore rock then i get a lot of anger and violence, if i listen to love songs i get romance... it's good to set the mood- but read over what you wrote without the music later to make sure it can stand on its own without he music.

i sorry! *puppydog eyes* your right...you know what else helps? sitting outside on a nice day, your story in your lap and the breeze blowing softly, that helps too nature can calm your mind and you can think better

Hmm... again, you have to point out the emotion. A good sunny day, you can do pretty much anything, because all things are possible then. But if there's a storm going on, then you can get some pretty interesting things. I used to sit outside when it thundered and all that jazz, and I had an awesome collection of horror stories.... wonder if I can find those.... hmm....
