(Note: There is a TL;DR at the bottom because I tend to ramble).
The concept for this is that your character, at some point in their life or even just right this moment, has had a violent encounter/seen something that a regular average Joe/Joann is never supposed to see (such as a demon or magic or aliens or ... whatever). Their memory of the event ingrained itself so deeply and so quickly that they can't be made to forget it. Instead, they have the memory shoved back into their minds so they don't think about it. To keep your character(s) from being bothered and trying to remember what had happened he/she is presented with the opportunity to make a deal. The deal can be anything and from anyone.
For example, your character is killed by a demon. He is brought back to life and an angel presents him with a one time offer to live forever. He accepts and instead of remembering the time a demon killed him, he remembers the time someone said could live forever. Wish granted, your character doesn't ever feel curious as to why he was granted that wish because he has an instinct telling him not to, and that nothing good will come of it, and that it would result in him losing his new-found immortality.
This deal isn't limited to magic. You can have a sci-fi deal, a fantasy deal, a super hero deal- anything, just please try not to make your character a Mary/Larry Sue because it'll affect the plot. What's the plot?
Okay, so every character wakes from a dream where they see through the eyes of the person who made them the deal. In the dream they learn that an enemy force has risen and is trying to overthrow the balance of the universe- all universes - and the person who granted them their deal has been targeted and beaten down in a surprise attack. If your character(s) want to save the universe/not lose their deal they must fight. They have the best chance against the enemy because the enemy doesn't know they exist.
I'll have a character whose deal was to have the ability to make a very drastic influence in the course of existence. He uses that ability (after bitching and moaning about having to use it) to bring everyone's characters into the best universe for staging the fight against the enemy. This will not be mandatory, you can fight the enemy on your own if you'd prefer it. You have to agree to be teleported to another universe without the guarantee of being returned to your old one when the fight is over. Also, your deal from one universe is in affect in the universe you are transported to. If you had a gun the size of a car which you lifted like it was a nerf gun and somehow fit in a standard holster in one universe, you have it in the other universe and can still use it the same way.
You can post as the enemy agents if you want, or I'll handle that, or both. I ask that we try to post in order, but you don't have to- just try not to have two people fill an entire page before anyone else can post.
The setting is whatever you'd like. You create your universe. You can also be in the same universe as another character. It's completely up to you. You do not have to create a character profile if you don't want to. You can play as an enemy. You can have as many characters as you want. The only limitation is that I ask that you try not to have an ability which would end the plot in a single post. For example, you can't time travel and warn people about the attack. If your ability is time travel you have the same rules as Dr. Who in that you know how your actions can affect time, which events are permanent, and how by trying to stop something you might actually cause it. Otherwise, you're free to do whatever you'd like. You're free to move the plot in whatever direction you like. You can veto any characters I create or any plot ideas I attempt and can edit my posts as you like. You can even post as my character(s) if you like.
TL;DR: Create a character who gets one wish in exchange for not questioning how they got that wish. Wish examples include the ability to fly, or be batman, or never get stuck in traffic. You have a dream where the person who gave you the wish is in trouble and if he/she dies you lose your wish. Any wish you want. Have fun. Go.
