For this challenge we start moving a bit away from how to move past writer's block. You've learned to use a dream journal to start remembering more of your dreams and train your mind to see them as valuable. You've organized your likes and dislikes in order to give yourself a clearer idea as to what you want to write about and why. You've even practiced free-writing, which can help you get in the habit of writing every week- even if it is nonsense, it's still progress. Last but not least, you used quotes as inspiration. The point of that exercise is to learn to think deeper. When you hear a quote you might think about how it relates to your life, but can you also think about how it could relate to a story? Of course you can.
For this week, use DeviantArt.com to find an image in the genre of your choice. If nothing strikes your fancy, switch to a different genre. You'll use the three images to tell a short story or even just a chapter. You need to do this in a few steps. First, scroll until an image strikes you, and stare at it. What is going on in the scene? Write it down. Now, how does the image make you feel? What words can you use in describing the picture that might evoke those feelings? If the mood is triumphant, what works can you use to speak of triumph? Does a story come to mind? A scene? A character?
Write it.
