Ariana was bored out of her mind...it had only been six days since her ship's departure from Tierra. This mission was to be three months long and was for the express purpose of classifying known planets and searching for new galaxies, stars, planets, and life.
The prospect of this mission should excite anyone, but for Captain Tempe this would be one of thousands of said 'exploratory missions' for her and her crew. She sighed and slumped down further into the captain's chair...this was going to be a looooong trip.
"Ariana? you okay?"
Ariana looked over to see her Second in Command looking at her, concern in his bright blue eyes. Smiling before straightening up in her chair again, she turned to him and said,
"Yes, Garhen. I'm fine."
Garhen smiled back at his captain before returning to his duties. Ariana knew he would be concerned, he always was...and after 15 years with these people, she knew them pretty well. Garq, her navigator had two little boys at home and a wife waiting his return and on the weekends he liked to go fishing; Seglin was single, and she loooved to paint; Harfe, was a genius with all things technical, and he took care of his elderly parents, using his pay to keep life going; and Garhen, her dear Garhen, he was a gentle soul, one she entrusted all her secrets to. He was her best friend, and she loved him...with everything she had.
Unfortunately...He didn't feel the same...
As she smiled, thinking about her crew, Marq turned back to her and said,
"We're about to enter the asteroid field Cap, then the Gamly Galaxy is just a couple hours from there."
Ariana nodded, "Alright everyone, buckle down...lets go Harfe..."
"Aye Captain."

BB was still and silent... one might even say contemplative- that is, until he began to drool a bit.
From his place in the co-pilots seat of a large transport vessel, his foot propped up on the control panel, and his hands behind his head, BB dozed peacefully... And not so silent anymore, as a light snoring started to emit from somewhere deep down within his cybernetic ribcage.
It had been a long day for BB. He'd gotten up, eaten breakfast, and worked out for a good hour or two, eaten lunch, eaten dessert, and then decided to nap in the co-pilots seat- a task he was fully dedicated to at the moment. There was nothing to fear. Their ship was stationary in a large asteroid field that was rarely if ever trespassed, and the ship he and his friend had made their home currently looked like an asteroid. Almost perfect camouflage...
BB lets out another snore.

Lyndis stared up at the cargo hold's ceiling and occupied his time by recounting another life. A time when he had been powerful, wealthy... fearless. Well, he had been afraid of one thing, but he had managed to circumvent death- though that did have its consequences...
When he tried to remember when everything had gone wrong, he was always lead to one spot. He could remember surpassing science and entering into the realm of magic. He never let gods tell him where he could tread anyway. He'd never truly wanted to be an experiment, that was why he'd made sure to be so loyal and to secure a position of power... but the cancer was spreading quickly and his superior would not allow him to say 'no.' After all, why say no? He supported the science, right? He was loyal to the company, wasn't he? So where was the problem?
The day it took place, he had been terrified. They hooked him up and twisted his reality into a nightmare, until his thoughts merged with the demigod they had been trying to bring under their control. There had been so much pain. He could remember screaming and with every second the scream changed as more horror and pain was thrust upon him, until the ritual was complete and his soul transformed into a black vapor. They contained him in a large cylinder charged with an electrical current to prevent his escape. They promised that this was just until he could gain control over his new form and power and mind... but he didn't believe that. They tried to experiment on him, but he was no longer as calm as he had once been. No longer as patient or understanding. He remembered the pain all too well. When it was clear that they were satisfied with just experimentation and not on actually trying to help him, he lashed out and freed himself.
Lyndis escaped the facility and found some young runaway and slammed his essence into him until the boy's soul was stripped apart and the body was under Lyndis' control. He awoke in a field of dead grass, and saw a cloud of black around his new body. He touched a tree, and it withered. He pet a dog and it fell dead.
He was alarmed, but a smile rose on his lips and within his heart a madness grew. He knew his coworkers would be looking for him, so he returned of his own free will. When they told him to leave the body, he laughed and demonstrated their lack of control over him by killing two lab rats simply by tapping their tails. That was so long ago, but he still smiled at the memory. He hadn't thought it through enough. Hadn't thought about how their daily terror could drive his coworkers against him, or how they would search for a way to kill him.
Pieces of the child's soul merged with his own and he became very fearful himself. If they killed him... Where would one like him go? Was there enough of the child's soul remaining to take him to some promised land? No... He would not let them kill him. Lyndis clenched his fist. The ship he was a stowaway on was not connected to his former job. They were completely innocent and on a mission to go beyond the inhabited planets. It was all too perfect. He smiled and shut his eyes. All he had to do was stay hidden until he found a good planet.

Sparks flew across the room and the sound of welding torch almost drowned out the dull thrum of the ships drive engines. Phayron fell back from his low kneeling position, flipped up his welding mask, and sighed as he wiped sweat from his brow. He looked at the knee joint of the combat suit he was TRYING to repair. “this damn thing is harder to figure out then Chinese algebra…” he tossed the welding mask off of his head and clicked off the welding torch and tossed it to the ground. He clambered to his feet and wiped his hands across his legs. The top of his flight suit was off and tied around his waist and his chest was covered in a sweat drenched white t-shirt. We walked across the large hanger of his ship to a work bench, along the way he had to walk around and over parts and peaces of things scattered all over the place. He picked up a sealed drink pouch on the table and pierced the top with the provided straw and toke a long drag from it. *bleck!* “what the heck flavor is this? Tastes like garbage…….only worse” he shivered at the taste but then toke another drag because he was thirsty and needed the nutrients from it. He turned and looked at his messy ‘play room’ “man some one should pick this place up….” He thought about it for a second. Maybe BB needed something to do…..he shrugged because he knew that the bum wouldn’t do it. Phayron sighed again and leaned back onto the desk….he really had no clue of what he was doing here or where he was going….he shook the thought from his head and got back to trying to figure out how to fix that suit.

"HARFE WATCH WHERE YOU DRIVE THIS THING!!!!!!"
Ariana yelled from her place on the floor....again.... her seatbelt wrapped around her feet, and her face in the floor...Harfe was the best pilot in the galaxy sometimes but he had his days....
"Sorry Cap....."
Harfe said as he turned back to look at her from the controls, and the main veiwport...Ariana's Eyes widened once she was able to look out the window,
"HARFE!! Eyes on the screen!!!!"
His head snapped around to look back at the viewport and tugging the controls to the right barely missed a asteriod coming right at them....Once his concentration was restored the ride became less bumpy and Ariana was able to get back in her seat properly...Looking around she sighed, poor Garq was wedged in the space underneath his nav board and Seglin was holding on to her chair with all her might, Garhen was the only one still secured in his chair...even though his body was rigid from the force required to stay upright....
Ariana buckled herself back into the captian's chair properly and tossing Harfe's head a glare she turned to Garq once he was back in his chair and asked
"Are we almost through this thing Garq?"
"Yes Captian, just a little more and we should be through...."
Ariana sighed...
"Good, Harfe...lets get out of this thing...AND KEEP YOUR EYES ON IT!!!"
Harfe's ears turned red and he nodded without turning around...
"Yes Ma'am"

BB snorted and shifted slightly, hitting the helm with his knee and tilting it ever so slightly. The ship turned just a bit and moved on. It would regain it's course, but the slight diversion would take a while to recalculate. As they flew, another ship came into view, this one much cleaner than the one he shared with Phay. They came up under the ship just as BB shifted again, hitting the helm and moving it in the opposite direction. A loud screeching sound and sparks caused BB to jerk awake.
"I SWEAR I REMEMBER YOUR NAME!" he shouts out. He looks around for a moment, then looks at one of the moniters.
"Oh... shit..."
He punches a few buttons and assesses the damage, then checks on the other moniters for other various bits of info.
"Ok, just a few scratches, nothin' a little bit of paint won't cover up, needs some anyway. What's this..."
He squints his eyes so he can see through the static of one of the cameras.
"OooOOOooo, that's a government ship," he muses. He punches a button and turns on the speakers.
"Hey Phay! We just hit a government vessel, ya think they're gonna be mad at us?"

Phayron was just getting ready to make a final adjustment when he felt the ships change course slightly “what the?” and moments later a loud impact and screeching passed along the outside wall like something scraping along the sides of his ship. Moments after that a intercom blared the simple message phay ran over to the speaker and shouted directly at it although he knew it was only a speaker not a transmitter “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO MY SHIP!!” he then ran for the door and began heading the front of the ship curing as he slid along the railing “shitshitshitshitshit….” There was gravity in the cargo/hanger and the cockpit but it was kept off in most other parts of the ship to save power as phay flew at the cockpit door in anger and worry he forgot to slow him self down. So the automatic door was about half way open when he reached it
*CLANG*
“SON OF A….” he cursed as the door finally side open and he steeped in “what blue blazes are you doing?!” he said as he vaulted into the other cockpit command chain and began to asses the damage….”wait…what did you say we hit?”

In the smooth, gliding weightlessness of space, and sudden jolt of movement was unwelcome. Lyndis stood immediately and slid out from his spot in the corner, between two crates which had shifted dangerously. The childish fear of the undeveloped brain he was using flooded his system. What if there was a problem? What if they had to evacuate the ship? What if they already were evacuating? There was no way there were enough EV ships for the crew and a stowaway, and without any knowledge of his to steer one of those things, all Lyndis would be able to do is... what? If they touched him to arrest him then they'd die.
His heart galloped in his chest and forced his movement. He had to get out of the cargo hold. He knew they probably had motion detectors and door alarms, but the terror floodign his brain just didn't care anymore.
He'd always been afraid of death, and that was something he was in no hurry to change.
Lyndis punched in the security code he'd seen the loading staff use, and left the cargo bay in the dust.

Ariana heard the metallic scraping long before the rest of the crew did, and knew that they hit something that DIDNT belong in the asteriod Field...getting up from her chair and going to over to the viewport she saw the glint of metal in the starlight and knew it was a ship,
"Damn...Harfe?! You hit a Ship!!!"
Harfe's Ears turned red and he winced at the anger in her voice...He squeaked when he answered,
"I did??...whoops...."
Ariana growled slightly at him before Garhen laid a hand on her shoulder and shook his head when she looked up at him, sighing slightly she turned back to Harfe,
"Turn the ship around...might as well see if they are ok..."
Harfe swallowed and nodded before doing as she said...Ariana glanced at the lumpy shaped ship in the front viewport and turned to Seglin...
"Seglin...arm the forward guns...I've got a weird feeling about this...."
Seglin nodded before turning back to her control panel, Ariana was too preoccupied to see Garhen sneak off down the corridor that led back into the ship...he had heard a noise and wanted to see what caused it...

Lyndis still wasn't sure what had happened, but as the ship calmly turned around he figured evacuation plans hadn't been initiated. He leaned against the wall to let his heartbeat slow to normal and sighed. In the echo of that sound, however, he heard footsteps. They moved cautiously and with purpose.
Cringing at his earlier panic, Lyndis lept into a whole new panic and his eyes began to dart around for any available escape. There was a very large air dust above him, which was far larger than it had any right to be. Now, however, was not the time to criticize. He jumped up, melted the grating enough to squeeze through, and vanished inside.

Far beyond the asteroid field, on a planet called Niellan…
A-LX was the product of a long line of robotic engineers, and the rivalry of two siblings. His ‘mom’ was Marcella Swix, of Swix Industries- a company known across more than a few galaxies for everything from robotic tows which could walk and talk and helped kids with homework, to battle mechs. The youngest of the Swix line, Marcella and Angelo, had determined to boost their family’s reputation even more by making robots that looked, felt, and acted like real people. They mastered creating eyes that actually looked and reacted like real eyes when they were in high school, and made them a vibrant gold color as a way to distinguish them from actual human eyes.
Marcella had a gift for A.I, mainly because she had always been an introvert and spent much of her time studying the behaviors of other people and trying to figure them out so as to make herself feel more confident in public. In fact, Marcella spent more of her time hidden away in her father’s workshop. Angelo was much better at being in the public and it seemed like the whole planet watched him grow up with batted breath and high hopes. He was much more interested in the military aspect of the family business, and very capable of creating robots which were strong, fast, and deadly accurate.
Marcella and Angelo worked together into and past college, until their first real breakthrough. The fortieth robot in their Aplha series (A-XL), was immensely strong, capable of quickly determining a strategy in a combat situation not just based on battle scenarios, but on information earned on the field. If A-XL knew his teammates were great shots, but cowardly, his battle plan would give them hidden vantage points by which to fire upon the enemy; if they were poor shots, but brave, he was prepared for close-combat.
A-XL even looked the part of a battle-seasoned warrior in his early thirties, and had a commanding tone and presence. Most of his practice related to sports, because Marcella and Angelo could not command troops to follow every robot they created, but their father was very pleased with the results anyway.
However, before they’d even agreed that A-XL was ready to be introduced officially, Angelo sent out a press release. Marcella awoke late one morning, turned on her TV, and watched her brother take all the credit. She also watched him ignore every text she sent him and attempt she made to contact him. So, out of bitterness she continued their work and refused to help her brother. When she met her future husband, Alphonso, the bitterness was an emotion he deemed it his mission to keep her from feeling. Alphonso took her last name, and devoted himself to her cause. Together, they created A-LX, a robot that appeared to be about 19 and had none of the coldness that A-XL had in abundance.
Instead of a war-hardened badass, A-lx, or ‘Alex’ as they called him, looked like a handsome young man with kind eyes and an enchanting smile. He lived at Swix Academy, with his creators, whom he referred to as ‘Mom and ‘Dad’ and managed to make a few of his classmates forget that he was a robot. An easy smile, great sense of humor, and eagerness to help turned him from science project, to friend. Still, Marcella could not help but worry.
“Ridiculous,” she spat. “When they interviewed me they wanted specific facts and seemed to yawn through the whole thing, but with him-” She scrunched up her face and growled. “’Oh Angelo, you’re so great. Tell us what Axel does now. He is so amazing,” she mocked, swishing her hips like a joyous school girl while her tongue flopped out with each word and her eyes rolled back to stare at the ceiling.
Hey gaze landed on Alex, and she dropped her immature pose. A-XL may have been bigger, stronger, and had a good track record, but in a competition for the better A.I? Let’s try the one who was fitting in perfectly at the college. She had designed him to be quite a pretty robot. She’d gotten the idea from Oliver Twist. A person who looks like a crook, will be treated as one; but someone who looks like a prince? Well, he’ll be awarded more liberties.
"Anyway, what is your father up to?" she asked.
A-LX brought up his father’s schedule, but the current time slot was empty. His face fell like a lost puppy. "I... I don't know," he admitted worriedly. "I can look, if you’d like."
"Yes," Marcella nodded, and turned away to watch more of the news and wring her hands together. "Tell him to come back to the academy. We need to get ready for the show. And be careful! You need to be back here by nine, no matter what, okay? We’ve got a busy week.’
Alex wilted a little. He may have only been a few months old, but he looked like a 19-year old and none of his classmates had a curfew. He opened his mouth to argue, but a quick scan of her posture and vitals made him stop. There were many robots who had failed her, as well a people who had hurt her. He didn’t want to be one of them.

BB was about to steer the ship a little bit more off course (this time, away from the other ship) when a red light started flashing.
"Oh, that's not good," he says. Then he smiles and jumps up.
"I've got it! I'll be right back!" then he runs off toward the back and out of the room.
"Give it a couple seconds, I'll be in the torpedo bay!"

Ariana sat grimly in her chair as they slowly approached the other vessel. She figured this could just be a false alarm, maybe just a normal passenger ship traveling through the asteroid field, but something about this didn't feel right and she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
"Harfe approach a bit slower please...we don't wanna spook em...."
"Yes ma'am"
The ship slowed down a small amount before continuing on, inching toward the other ship, Ariana smiled a bit to herself, no wonder Harfe hit it...it looks just like an asteroid. ______________________________
Meanwhile Garhen was silently moving down the corridor toward the back of the ship, the only sounds to be heard were the soft clop of his boots on the metal floor. His eyes scanned from left to right and all over the hallway looking for the source of the noises he had heard earlier...his hand instinctively went to the blaster at his hip, and as he rounded the corner to the door to the cargo bay he saw a flash of color as something dove into the air duct and that 'something' had dissolved the metal grate in front of it.
"Damn..."
He whispered to himself as he unholstered his blaster and moved slowly toward the grate...so someone HAD gotten in...dispite his habit of checking everything a good 4 times over before liftoff, well all he could do was hope that it wouldn't put up too much of a fight...

Lyndis crawled back as far as he could in the air duct, stopping only when the vent he was crawling went vertical. Quick inspection proved that climbing wasn't an option, since he wasn't flexible enough to fit through a space that barely admitted his head. All that was left was the shadows, and the guy that was behind him. Heart pounding he turned around, quietly shrugging off his bright orange jacket and sitting on it as well as his hands, trying to hide as much of the reflective material as he could.
--
A-LX was three miles from home, sprinting down back alleys so he would not crash into anyone as he went. Having a regular person ram into you at full speed was bad enough, but a robot was a whole other matter? A-LX weighed close to 400 pounds and could keep pace with Olympic champions. The fastest route to his father's favorite hangers was through the alleyways anyway. Today, however, proved to be quite different than any other, for though he had made the exact trek a couple dozen timed before, this time a figure stepped out from behind a garbage bin and shoved A-LX backwards. He felt his framework bend from the force, and knelt on his right knee to try and figure out stabilize his movements and let his own programming take over. He had hit someone, so he looked to where they had been and asked,
"Are you all ri-" The question ended abruptly as he recognized the puppet-jawed face of his predecessor. "... Right," he finished, without any attempt to override his irritation display. A-XL stood with the closest thing he could get to a smirk on his face, though the movement made his lips twitch.
"Come with me," he ordered, in a voice that had been programed to sound authoritative and trustworthy. It exuded confidence like a shark in a school of fish- not a single trace of fear. This effect, however, was lost on another robot. A-LX stood up and walked past what was technically his older brother with all the traditional respect of a younger sibling. He stopped, however, when A-XL began reciting his override codes. Codes he should not have. Luckily, A-LXs creators had given him the ability to override those codes. Switching his voice to match his father's perfectly, A-LX countered the command.
"That was petty," he taunted.
A-XL shook his head. "No. That was generous." His fist swung out and and the outcome threw A-LX into a dumpster with enough force to crumple the dumpster around A-XL, as if he's fallen into a marshmallow. When his system recovered from the sudden impact, he opened his eyes just as A-XL grabbed his neck and used it to haul him out of the dumpster. A-XL tore one of the metal grip-bard off the dumpster and the next blow ended with that bar coming out the back of A-LX's torso.
"Hey!" snapped a human who seemed to have been waiting around the corner. "How am I supposed to sell that if you tear it up?"
"This is superficial damage." A-XL released his grip and A-LX collapsed as his system was forced to restart with alternative power. His heard was simply his main power supply, but without it he was running of limited energy and having trouble figuring out which processes were vital right now. Normally, movement would shut down as that took the most energy, but if he wanted that back he had to give up quite a few other things. He quickly shut down all non-vital functions and pushed the remaining power into jumping to his feet and attempting to run.
More humans appeared around the corner, each with shock sticks that turned his escape into a pointless failure. His body twitched, both from the added electricity and from the damage he'd sustained, and powered down.

Garhen put his back against the wall above the air duct, and taking a deep breath moved quickly, he squatted and spun his blaster into the hole and his head as well, glancing around for any sign of movement and was highly surprised to see none, a small glint in the darkness perhaps, but nothing large enough to be humaniod, he stared into the darkness, confused...had his eyes been playing tricks on him?
Shaking his head and glancing into the duct once more he stood up, now convinced he had been seeing...AND hearing things....maybe he needed a vacation....He mumbled to himself as he walked back up the corridor towards the cockpit...
